AtheistWiki's community standards are quite brief (at the moment).

Standards

  • The most important principle is that you should be polite when you are discussing contentious topics.

As a general rule of thumb you should respond to what the person says and not to the person. In yet other words you are quite welcome to say "That idea is stupid, because ...." You should avoid saying "You are stupid." In other words, you should play the ball and not the man.

Blocking Policy - Community Standards

Where the community standards are breached the following policies will apply.

  • Blocking length will be at sysop discretion, but in general sysops should block for short periods rather than long periods. "Short" means hours or minutes.
  • Sysops are encouraged to use incremental blocks if they feel it is appropriate.
  • Notwithstanding the above sysops have discretion to block for longer periods without prior warning if appropriate.
  • Sysops have the discretion to reverse each others' blocks.
  • Sysops should try not block people with whom they are in personal debate.

Blocking Policy - Vandalism

  • Vandalism will be reversed and the vandal blocked at sysop discretion.
  • Sysops are encouraged to try to reason with vandals if possible.
  • Although it is not encouraged vandals may receive infinite bans.

Blocking Policy - Trolling

  • Trolls will be blocked at sysop discretion.
  • Although it is not encouraged vandals may receive infinite bans.
  • Repeated attempts to insert material contrary to the site's ethos will be considered trolling.
